Train to Busan is a 2016 South Korean action horror film directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Su-an, Choi Woo-shik, Ahn So-hee, and Kim Eui-sung. The film mostly takes place on a high-speed train from Seoul to Busan as a zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in the country and threatens the safety of the passengers. The film premiered in the Midnight Screenings section of the 2016 Cannes Film Festival on 13 May.

However, before the train departs, an infected woman runs onto the train and turns into a zombie, spreading the virus to other passengers. Seok-woo, Soo-an, and a group of survivors must fight their way through the train and reach Busan, where a quarantine zone has been established by the military.

The film explores themes such as selfishness vs selflessness, class conflict, family bonds, and survival instinct. The film also reflects on the social issues of South Korea at the time, such as the MERS outbreak, the Sewol ferry disaster, and the labor strikes. The film also draws inspiration from real-life incidents such as the Gwangju Uprising and the Daegu subway fire.
